Overview of the Role

They are responsible for leading and coordinating the housekeeping team, with care, pride and attention to detail ensuring every guest room and shared spaces in the Birnam Hotel feel welcoming, calm and beautifully maintained meeting the hotels high standards.

This role combines a hands on operational oversight with strong team leadership. Supporting efficient daily operations, well organised schedules and a positive working environment It is essential they maintain health, safety and hygiene standards, managing supplies and equipment and supporting the training and development of team members to deliver an exceptional guest experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily cleaning schedules for guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.

  • Ensure all rooms and public areas meet the hotel’s standards for cleanliness, comfort, and presentation.

  • Carry out regular inspections and address any issues promptly and thoughtfully.

  • Guide, train, and support the housekeeping team, creating a positive and well-structured working environment.

  • Assemble staff rotas to meet operational needs while maintaining efficiency.

  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members.

  • Manage stock levels of linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment.

  • Make certain equipment is well maintained and stored safely.

  • Maintain clear records and support cost control within the department.

  • Ensure housekeeping practices meet health, safety, and hygiene standards.

  • Support safe working practices across the department.

  • A confident, supportive leader who leads the housekeeping team by example.

  • Approachable and fair, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.

  • Highly organised with a strong eye for detail.

  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards across all areas of the hotel.

  • Able to manage competing priorities and respond calmly to daily challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role.

  • Strong understanding of housekeeping operations within a hotel or hospitality setting.

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards.
