Overview of the Role

The Restaurant Supervisor ensures that every dining experience at The Birnam Hotel is consistent, welcoming, and memorable.

Acting as a key link between the Front of House team, the Food & Beverage Manager, and the kitchen, this role maintains high standards, guides service during busy periods, and helps create an environment where guests feel cared for and teams feel supported and motivated.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the front of house team, ensuring every team member is confident, engaged and empowered to deliver flawless service.

  • Work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, assisting with staff training, mentoring and scheduling to develop team skills and maintain consistent service standards.

  • Coordinate service throughout meal periods, ensuring smooth operations and a warm, welcoming guest experience.

  • Monitor cleanliness, table settings and service presentations across all areas.

  • Uphold The Birnam Hotels high standards of hospitality, ensuring every interaction feels thoughtful, attentive and in line with the hotels values.

  • Respond to guest queries and feedback with care and professionalism.

  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor, setting the tone for warm, generous hospitality.

  • Strong leadership skills, able to motivate and support the front of house team delivering at a high standard.

  • Organised, solutions focused,  calm under pressure and able to manage busy service with clarity.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant, hotel or luxury environment.

  • Experience leading, training and supporting teams in front-of-house operations.

  • Strong knowledge of service standards, food and beverage operations and hospitality etiquette.

  • Experience coordinating with kitchen teams, managing reservations and maintain operational flow
